I saw but two in the last year. Doesn't anyone change jobs anymore? If you hear of an opening, let me know.
OH yeah...wood. I need to replace the toerail on my 37'er. Teak is about $900 Got any suggestions? I was thinking of marine ply with teak bullnose on the edges. If I use solid wood, I need 2x6 to make the curves.

Try working with a single 35' piece of mahogany.... The rub rail on the portside is in three pieces. Not so the single monstrous piece to starboard. I can't even imagine the log it took to get this piece with that much curve to it....

for caprail?? need hard wood--mahogany wont cut it for many years--is too soft and loves to rot in both fresh and sea water lol....try ash, white oak, spruce, cypress, any other hard wood--ply wont work unless a lot of clear penetrating epoxies are used...goood luck--white oak and ash are within reason for pricing--i have to replace 110 ft of teak on my formosa---i wont be using teak ,,,lol....

....maybe it's the type of mahogany. My 26' T-Bird I owned for 19 years had mahogany cap rails and cabin house too. Chris Crafts and Owens were largely mahogany too. I thought the stuff was pretty rot resistant, altho I admit to keeping a good varnish cover on her all those years. But, I digress....

I'll disagree too Zeehag. The mahogany on Oh Joy is right at 50 years old and rot free.

how many board ft is that $900.00 buying you...also do you know how to scraf a joint ........

Give consideration to IPE as another alternative. Its sold as a highly rot resistant decking hardwood and is widely available. I've used it for several different applications for boat, home,and hobby (electric guitar body). You can pick-and-choose among the pieces at your lumber yard for wood grain and color that can mimick teak in appearance. The price is right compared to teak. The stuff is rock hard, very heavy - (my guitar weighs a ton!), so won't bend much.

There are other decking hardwoods available depending on your location and source.

I agree with Rardi ! IPE wood is an excellent choice for a caprail. I believe it is more rot resistant than teak.. Folks are using it for patio decks ..
