I am de-commissioning the plumbing for my MSD but want to leave the seacocks in place in the event I want to change my plumbing back. (am going to a composting head ... OK guys - no hijacks here ;-) )

I can't find anything like a marelon square headed plug to use to plug the seacocks. I've tried defenders, jamestown, WM, McMaster .... I can find large bronze ones that cost a mint! (1 1/2 inch bronze at WM is $49 !!!)

Anyone know if they make marelon ones? would PVC be stupid to use in this situation?

Thanks!!

Ron,

They don't make them. I would prefer nylon over PVC but PVC would work too as the valve will be closed as well..

These are pipe thread (tapered thread) Go to the farm and ranch store, or the farm/ gardening store (chem section) they should have them in PVC, ABS, nylon, poly, SS, Cast iron, Polycarbonate, glass filled resin or galvanized CI. All for fewer than 5 bucks, if it must be counter sunk square head brass, CI brass or SS will be your only choice.
