March Madness

OK. I've done winter without diagnosed insanity. But March looms dangerously ahead. I've read all I can about other people's sailing trips. I've watched all the U tube videos about sailing, building boats, fixing boats, pushing boats up and down, left and right that I can. What I really need to do is grab a tiller and drive a boat one way or the other. Yeah, I really need to do that.

You may have to move to where it's comfy to sail all year long! Or take up frost-biting! But that's for the young and foolish.

There have been spots of good weather here and there this winter. Are you stored in or out of the water? I managed to sneak a sail in last month. More than worth the cost of new anti freeze.

I usually get a sail in about once a month during the winter. This year it would have been easy because it was fairly mild. But ... my friend who hosts these sails has been doing other things so .... I haven't been out since Mid - January. The warmest days have been pretty windy. In fact it's been windy in general. And last weekend was unseasonably cold and windy. Let my people go!

I usually get a sail in once a month or so in the winter as well.

I just have to fly somewhere to do it. ;^)

I remember shoveling snow out of the boats before a race! Older and ( I hope ) wiser now. Boat has a cabin and a heater!!!

Yesterday was our 50th sail since mid-November - just over 800 miles. Early April we'll leave Charlotte Harbor to head back to Lake Erie to start the real sailing season.

My boat has been on the hard since September 2015! I have new parts sitting in the closet here in Virginia, and can't wait until its consistently warm enough in northern Michigan to get to work on the boat and get it back into the water.

I really want to clean the rust from my cast iron keel and reseal it but I may put it off to the Fall and splash her soon!

Like your thinking Ned. If any one asks, just raise a glass of Wilamette Valley Pinot and smile. They'll think it is just the wine and not your frustration with the repeating snow/ice/rain storms.
