I recently purchased a H 28.5. There were no manuals. Is there a source where they can be purchased? Since the exhaust exits under the hull, I can't tell if coolant water is being circulating. I thought I should install a water temp gauge (oil pressure as well). Will automotive type gauges work ok? Where do you connect to the engine? Also have a water leak around one of the keel bolts. How do you fix that? What is the torque setting for keel bolts on this boat? Thanks much.

manual

When I purchased my used Hunter, there was a package that the previous owner had that included a lot of specification info on the boat. I assume they requested it from Hunter Marine. Their 1-800 is easily found - or contact them directly from this web site. I also purcahsed a Yanmar engine repair manaul by SELOC MARINE - found it on Amazon.com - search for Seloc Marine

gauges

When I owned my 28.5, I could hear the water flow by leaning over the transom. It was much more obvious on that boat than on my new 33.5. But installing guages is good idea, its more dependable than listening, unless the guages fail. As for the manual, If you call Hunter they will photocopy it and send it to you.

Gauge Installation

I installed gauges on a 28.5 and also a 35.5 and have conversed with several others on the subject to the point that I wrote a procedure for making the conversion. If you would like I can provide as a MS/Word document. My original prodeure replaced the alarm buzzers with the gauges; however, I have learned, most boaters want to have both. I can edit the doc if that is your choice. The gauges are available in most boating catalogs and the senders also. You will also need light wire, crimp connecters and most important you have to decide where you want to locate the gauges. Please advise and I will provide the procedure. You can do the job for under $100.

Sealoc manual

For my 2 cents, the Sealoc manual is much better illustrated and easier to understand. Covers all small Yanmars.

Out of Town

I just returned from Ohio and note the requests for the procedure. I will get it off to all who asked for it soonest. You can see why I wrote the procedure, the last time I responded to a gauge query, 32 people came after me. Please be patient

CAN I HAVE ONE TOO??

Hello George: You and your gauge mounting instructions seem to be popular. If I could get you to E-mail a set it would come at a great time, as I've just purchased a 28.5 and plan to install guages before spring launch. In my mind idiot lights are for idiots! Thanks in advance Eric Grant
