Looking for a boat manual for hunter 31' 1985,doing some restoration on my boat.

There is not going to be much in the manual. These were available from Jim Seaman (who is home from the sea).

What are you specifically looking for. Maybe we can help.

As Steve says, there is not much in there. I will get mine tonight and scan it for you. Same manual pretty much covers the whole fleet, with only a few pages on each model

Thanks very much. On another note,can any of you guys say if there is any substitute diesel engine for the Yanmar 2gmf that can work in the hunter 31'?

lanj, if you can't find yours. I can get him a copy of mine. The electrical and plumbing is in the manual such that it is. There is a replacement Yanmar available from Larsen Marine in Wakegan, IL. Engine footprint is perfect for your boat. The new one is 23 HP I think. Just a new version of the old Yanmar in your Hunter 31. Looked at one last year at Chicago Strickly Sail. Pretty cool engine.

Mad: Do you need another engine? What appears to be wrong with yours.

A friend of mine in San Deigo purchased a H'31 with a Bukh. Nice engine with a little more power than the 2GM. I don't know much about them, but you may have problems with parts.

Thxs for the info steve,I am looking for an engine. Boat was purchased knowing that it needed an engine. Whats the best link for out there for a dependable used engine?

Mad rocka: Did not notice you are out of country. If you would like I can get you the phone number of Larsen Marine in Wakegon, IL. They also have a web site you can go to. I saw the engine last year at the Chicago Strickly Sail show and was impressed. If it is a 2GM series, in a Hunter 31. Yanmar has a new engine around 23 HP. It is the same engine you have now, but with all the new bells and buttons, bigger pistons and more horsepower. Hope this helps. Don't have much information on used engines or where to direct you to. My opinon on used engines is: "You get a used engine and don't know it's history, or whether it is worth the time and money to put one in". I own some auto repair service shops and that has kept me from some sticky situations in the pass several years. Good luck.
