Does anyone know what kind of bildge pump I have and where can I get the handle for manual pumping. I am assuming it was original equipment. I recently purchased this boat and can't find handle Thank u The boat is a Pearson 31-2 Hull 187
Over the years, Pearson used several vendors for the bulkhead bilge pumps. My 36-2 has a Whale pump. As most of the pumps are made by overseas companies (British, French, etc) the handle may be of metric diameter and difficult to find. I would check the pump for a maker, measure the inside diameter of the handle socket and go from there.
Are their any used boat parts in your area? That would be a good place to try.
If it looks like this one on my 84 Pearson 34, it's an Imtra taken over by Whale. AK 8050 Service kit from Whale. Pump handle ¾” diameter. I made one with a SS tube bent to avoid the cockpit table set in front of it. You could also use a thick walled aluminum tube.
We sail P31-2 #165. Ours is a pretty generic Whale pump with a stainless tube that slides over a stub just inside the rubber gasket. Defender (www.defender.com) sells just the handles (Item 500858). You may need to take a flashlight and a mirror to read the model off the diaphram or casing. I'm guessing it's Gusher 10. I'd hunt ours up but the boat is, * sigh *, miles and miles away.
