The weather down here on the Gulf Coast is getting to where everyone we know now want to go out on the boat we bought when it was too hot for them to do anything outdoors. I was wondering what cures others could recomend for sea sickness. My years in the air force have taught me three things to help with airsickness: 1. Cherry Lifesavers, honest they work ive never heard why but don't argue with success 2. Those little wrist strap things, I doubted them at first 3. Distract and Ocupy turn over the stick (tiller on a boat) to the ailing person, ever known a person to get carsick while driving? I have read about Ginger Beer and remembered that my sainted mother would give us Ginger Ale when we were sick Dad probably added bourbon to get us to sleep as well. I think we have all been there, anyone else have any other suggestions?

What works for us and our guests...

...is: Bonine a 1/2 hr. before boarding; plenty of water and ginger ale, to the point where you're hitting the head pretty regularly; no alcohol on the water; staying abovedecks; and keeping the interior smelling nice. This seems to help almost everyone we've had on board (6 yrs old to 60). Oh yes and salty, non-fatty snacks (pretzels ideal).

Double Whammy

I used to get sick regularly on dive trips off shore, and dramamine is considered too strong for when you are scuba diving; and bonine by itself wasn't doing the job. Of course I am the type that, if it's been a while since I've done a 3-D game on the computer, will get nauseous within 20 minutes just playing Doom; and like getting your sea legs, practice will change that--I've played Doom for 8 hours straight networked with a buddy. Anyways, the trick I discovered is doing a dose of Dramamine the night before, and then a dose of Bonine about an hour before heading out (generally early morning for the dive trips). Haven't lost my breakfast since.
