Making zincs

I've always wondered about that also....
So why does AutoStream put a separate zinc on their prop? I really don't know, but I have chosen to err on the side of too many zincs in order to protect a somewhat expensive prop.
OTOH, I wonder if having too much zinc is somehow causing an attraction for barnacles? Someone posted recently (this thread or another) that too may zincs promoted barnacle growth.

Most boats don't have a shaft zinc and a prop zinc. Usually just a shaft zinc.

Off topic, but....
I try to avoid these conditions, and head off and/or slow down to minimize the slapping. Another h40.5 owner suggested that this slapping is due to the relatively flat area just in front of the keel. I think he is right because if this area were more rounded I think the hull would part the water more easily. It's almost like slapping the water surface with your open hand.
My only complaint is that in heavy chop the bow will rise up and slap down on the water causing a bone-chilling BANG. Never any damage or handling issues, but it is a very disconcerting noise and action. It's like the ocean is trying to smash the hull.
