I have a 1984 C22 and I would like to fit it with a bimini to avoid some of the sun when in port. I loked at Catalina direct but it costs too much for this old of a boat. Has anyone made thier own or do you know where I might find plans for one? thanks

Bimini

If your going to make it then you need to look at the Bimini Louis Plaisance made. You can see it on the enclosed link.

Bimini

You can find generic Biminis much more pocketbook friendly at places other than Catalia Direct. I've seen lots of folks find very reasonable Biminis at places that specialize in them. I don't remember the names but I'm sure if you did a google on Biminis you'd find them. Most I've heard about were actually for powerboats and with the less expensive aluminum frame. They have all widths, lengths and heights available. You might try a search of the archives of the Trailer Sailors Forum as there has been a lot of discussion there.........also search the Catalina Direct C22 Clubhouse Forum as it might have been discussed there also. Good luck, Jon

Catt22 Bimini

Edward, I live and sail in Texas and would not think of being out in the heat without a bimini. I bought mine from Overton's. I paid about $300 and their costs depend on what fabric you choose. Mine is Sumbrella. I had to make some modifications to the aluminum poles that mount to thew deck. I did all my mods at the dock. Total time from box to sailing was 1.5 hours. I have a lot of mechanical abilities, but all in all it was a peice of cake. I have gotten a lot of complements on the boat and bimini. It really sets the boat apart from others. I mounted mine so I can sit at the back of the cockpit and can still see my sails and telltails to trim. The wife and dog can sit forward in comfort. Life is good. Thank you Jesus!
