Hello, any suggestions of making good use of the empty space at the back of the boat, behind the berth? It's very uncomfortable to access but on the other hand its a pity to waste it. Did anyone ever make an access from the cockpit, that is, without ruining the cockpit of course. Best regards Nicky

Nicky, you didn't say what kind of boat??

But on my H23.5 I use that area to store duffle bags with dirty clothes in them. I figured once the clothes are dirty, I have no use for them until after we are home again, so thats where they get stored. These boats have so much room, that I rarely need to use that space.

Oops!

You're right, I did not indicate what type of boat. Actually it is also a Hunter 23.5 Thanks Nicky

I use mine to store

extra life jackets and clothing. Anything soft. My boat is a Hunter 20 and I need every inch of space.

Cockpit Hatch

Nicky, take a look at the thread on "battery location." There is some discussion and pictures on the issue of installing a hatch to access that storage area. I plan on installing such a hatch soon. While I may move my battery there at some point, I'd echo the suggestion to keep lighter things there. Best, Kevin Fitzpatrick s/v Grasshopper 1993 Hunter 23.5 Brownsville, VT

Storage too

Nicky, I have an access hatch on my 23.5 (see Battery location thread) and store extra life jackets, the secondary anchor, fenders (while underway), etc. I also have the backboard undearneath caulked so I can put damp items back there without fear of getting my bedding soaked for the night.
