According to reports online, the Bahamian Government has enacted new fees for anchoring, fishing, and cruising starting tomorrow. The costs are eye-watering.

Peter Swanson's Substack (Loose Cannon) has a series of articles on this. His take on this, it's designed to keep cruisers away and protect the sea grass. Why protect sea grass besides it is good for turtles and Manatees? Sea grass is an efficient means of capturing C02 and the carbon capture credits are worth billions of dollars, far more than the cruising community contributes to the Bahamian economy.

We sent them a 10% across the board export tariff. Just sayin', not knowin'. They have a resource, with upkeep costs, that people will pay for.
