The cloth like strips that cover the center board cavity on my h170 have come off the hull and are held on only by being pinched under the metal plate at the forward end of the slot. I have cut them off near the plate and would like to replace them. Does anyone know where to get extra strips? Also, what is the white stuff around the plate? I assume it is some sort of caulking material, but what kind? Is there a special kind for marine use?

As you have probably learned, Hunter has aquired controlling interest in JY and since JY makes the Hunter 170, etc.. they are most easily ther place to go for parts. Hunter replaced my Strips once by sending me a set which didn't work out and then dealer attached a set getting a little more involved with keeping them on. I also had to replace my motor mount after silly little argument with a rock and my mast from Dwyer after the hurricane broke it at the spreaders. They have all the lines, rigging and sails.

Leave them off

I do not see that they are really needed..... why not just leave them off... Its not like water will rush in!
