In a few more months, it will be time for me to haul the boat and put on a new coat of bottom paint. I also want to strip and rewax the hull. Not sure of the process here. So I am going to show my total lack of knowledge on this subject. So, I am guessing that I should strip the old paint and wax before applying the new. And I am also guessing that I should apply the paint before applying the new wax. Do I wax over the new paint (after it dries of course) or leave the paint to fend for itself? Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks much, guys.

Easier than that

Bottom Paint... Rough up bottom. Dry wall sand block 80g work great for this phase. Don't kill yourself just get the crud off. Next tape off the water line and paint. Use good ablative paint. Waxing hull.... I use a coat of cleaner wax and then a coat of sealer wax. If the hull is older you may need to use a three step wax application but I am not sure they really help.

Don't paint until

you are ready to put the boat back in the water. read the paint can. I tried to "get ahead" my first season and when I got to reading the can saw that you only have 24-48 hours of 'dry time' before bad stuff starts happening to the new paint.
