Beneteau 311 Punta Gorda
Does anyone have experience servicing Beneteau's lifting keels. I have a 2001 Beneteau 311 that lives out of the salt water on a lift with a keel step. When the boat is on the lift the center board cannot lower because of the keel step of the lift. So I think with the boat on the lift I can crank the center board down and the lifting screw will rise into the salon where I can greaase the shaft. I am not sure if I can view the entire lifting mechanism from the salon or not. Does anyone have any experience with this? Are there any dangers with cranking the board down against the lift's keel step? Other than greasing the lifting screw, are there any other maintenance tasks to complete routinely? Thanks

Ours is the same design .. Very agricultural was the description of the mechanics .. It has to be it gets treated very badly .. Its a long screw with a bearing at the top .. If you are on sand etc then you can wind the bolt up as we did this year .. Cover in plenty of waterproof grease and wind back down .. There is on one of the forums a picture of this .. I have been told that there is a bronze screw part that need replacing occasionally ..

When we bought ours the keel jammed up .. After discussions with the Dealer and Factory it was decided that we should wind the screw up until it was 1" high of the table . Place a chunk of wood over it . Then hit it with a large hammer .. Took three or for attempts and then we heard the keel drop ..

Hope that helps .. :D
