Just purchased a 27-1983...the owner did not have a owners maunal and the mainsheet was not rigged. My question is can someone tell me how the mainsheet is rigged...possibly send me a photo or fax of how it is rigged? I am new to sailboating and would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks

Main Sheet

I have the same boat. Mine is rigged as two sheets, one to each side to form a triangle. Each side is tied to the boom, then thru the lower block, back to the upper, then back to the lower block. The line then goes thru a fairlead to a cam cleat. I'll try to look at my pictures and see if I have anything. Bill

Fairlead may be the wrong term. But, a guide anyway.

rigging the main

I had the same problem with my H27 1980 which goes from a stand up double block (maybe called a fiddle block) on the starboard side of the boat to a block on the port side. This was mystifying until I watched a sailing friend try feeding it through the blocks in different says until he finally figured it out. It's just trial and error basically. But don't make the mistake I did once when I needed to take it apart...putting it on wrong can cause some of the rollers in the balls to wear down. It'll become apparent to you and you work with it.
