I would like to replace/upgrade the original mainsheet outhaul system in my Isomat Boom; anyone have any suggestions/experience in doing so. The boat is a 1995 model I have owned since new. Thanks :)

Upgrade from what?

perhaps we could start with what you have already.
As I recall from my Legend 37.5 the outhaul had an internal tackle that gave 2:1 purchase.

Yes, it has a 2:1 purchase; I'd like to replcae the internal tackle blocks and outhaul lines. Thanks.

I replaced mine (h40.5). The forward reduction block is anchored, so I removed the fwd boom end to access it. It is not hard to do it, drilled out the rivets. the cap comes out easy. The only problem was to get the rivet puller that can handle the 1/4" rivets. It cost me $130.00. I got the rivets and the proper size rope from USspars at

Having the boom open also made cleaning the bird nest easy.
Good luck,

Marco

Outhaul Upgrade

I replaced the outhaul in my 35.5 with a cascading internal 6:1 system. The original floating double block inside the boom is piece of garbage. It is responsible for a huge amount of friction and should be eliminated. Use ONLY ball bearing blocks in your new setup to minimize friction.

I replaced the entire setup through the aft end of the boom without removing the end caps on the boom.
