I need some (more) advice. I want to add a sail track and slides to ease raising and lowering t6he mainsail on my Hunter 33.5. I understand that many 33.5 owners complain of difficulty in raising the main, maybe due in part to the prebend in the mast. A Strong (brand) track abd car system have been recommended by my local sailmaker. While my 33.5 is a 1992 model, this problem seems to be prevelant in all 33.5's. Question: Have any owners installed Strong tracks and batten cars on similar Hunter's and what has your experience been? Any comments would be appreciated.

Search for "Strong"

Michael, Just search for Strong on this site and you will find a variety of info. Last week I posted a couple of photos and installation details. Advise if you need more info. Rich

Have you tries sail track lubricant? My 30 is a 75 model and very hared toa raise the main. West marine sells sail track lubricant which I applied only as high as I could reach. Works like new. cheaper than new sail track as a first try Barry

33.5 Sail Track Lube

We had some difficulty raising the main on our H-33.5 (1990). I cleaned the track (when mast was unstepped last fall)with mineral spirits. Then used Elmer's 'Slide All' as was recommended by Practical Sailor in an issue last fall. That worked very well. Now can raise main by hand usually without winching (depending on the wind). I plan to do the same thing this fall/spring. Regards, Dick C. S/V Puffin
