Mainsail Replace?

My 1982 O'Day 19, which I purchased 2 years ago, sails with the original rags. The mainsail seems blown out (pic attached) so I'm looking at replacement for performance improvement. I know little about sail technology. I've found new sails from Cruising Direct (North Sails?) @ $444, D&R Marine (Neil Pride) @ $590, and Dolye (chandlery here) @ $625. Any recommendations?

Replace immediately!

Nevermind the condition of your sail- I'd replace just on the basis of those colors! Seriously, check out thesailwarehouse.com- they have reasonable prices.

Replacement Sails

I purchased a Main, Jib & Genny from Chow Lee (Hong Kong)in 1972......Won't win any races but I'm still using them!

Sails

I would say it's time for new sails if you want to increase your performance. You didn't specify if you plan on racing or not, so here it goes. If you are a weekender that just wants to better his or her boat for personal satisfaction, NorthSails (Cruising Direct) are hard to beat for the money. If you are wanting to race, then construction is more important and don't worry about the price. The 192 isn't known for it's blazing speed, and if one or two regattas are all you are up for, then get the North Sails. They are well made with solid materials and fine craftsmanship. I am just a weekend cruiser looking for some improvement (shave a few minutes off the beat back to the mooring!). Your comments about North Sails make a lot of sense.
