Bill, I have a 1989 Hunter 30 and am in desperate need of a new main. I am considering ordering one through your company online however I have one "main" concern. How will your loft account for the prebend built into to my ISOMAT spar? I have seen nothing on how to measure luff curve. Also, do the main sails I get a quote for through this site have leach lines?

Luff Curve and Prebend

David, Any information you could provide regarding pre-bend would be taken into account when designing your sail. We have a lot of data regarding mast bend on all kinds of boats, whic we use in designing mainsails. Most rigs bend evenly over their length. What we are looking for in terms of a mast bend measurement would be a maximum amount and location, such as 9"@55%. If you have a bendy rig and actively adjust the backstay you could provide this information and we will incorporate it into the design. All the mains we build come with leech chords as a standard feature. If you order a reef the leech chord will be adjustable there as well as at the clew. Thanks, Bill C. Doyle Sails

I had a sail made overseas for a low price. It far exceeded my expectations. I provided measurement to them by running a straight line down the back side of the mast and measuring the bend with a ruler in several spots. If they can handle that in Thailand and Indonesia by fax, a local high dollar loft should be able to fix you right up
