The battens for my Hunter 23.5 mainsail have gone missing. The Hunter manual gives no specs and searching on the HunerOwners Chandlery show nothing for "Battens". Where can I find specs for replacement and what's the best source to replace them? Thanks!

Battens

OK, I'll field this one. Contact Doyle@sunbeach.net and I'm sure they can give you the rest of the info that I don't have. There should be four battens in your mainsail. The upper middle is 5ft 5 & 1/4in The lower middle is 7ft 4 & 1/2in Both should be 5/8in wide. I have the other two battens, but was missing the middle two. Contact the above for the other two. Hope this helps.

loss of battens

Old age problem that can be solved in the future. At the back end of the sail, cut a fine hole into the pocket and sear it by burning it to seal so the seams will not unravel. Then take the batten inserted and mark it with a pencil where the holes are. Take it out and drill a hole in the batten. Reinsert into the pocket and then take a line and insert into the hole and and batten and tie it. No more lost battens.

Battens??

I am missing most of mine as well. What are they really for? to help sail hold shape?

I donated a couple of my battons to King Neptune a couple of years ago while foolishly inserting them while underway. I measured the lengths required from the sail and ordered from Sailrite. Good Luck!
