Mainesail - what size t-bolt clamps for stuffing bx hose?

Hi. Hopefully Mainsail or another mechanic will know this.

I have I think a 2.25" stuffing box hose. Measured outside diameter. 1984 Universal M-18. All original. I bought t-bolt clamps 2", and they're still too big. I ratcheted down all I could w\ a long socket,and still able to move the clamp. What size is right? I hate to install too small or maybe i'm doing somehting wrong.

T-bolts have a very small range of clamping thus they must be sized very, very carefully. When I use them I physically bring the hose right into Hamilton marine and size them on the spot for a perfect fit.

If the area can get wet the spot welds, where the t-band is folded, can trap water and suffer from crevice corrosion. I generally don't use t-bands in wet areas nor recommend them in wet areas. Some engine bays are fine for them and others not at all.

If the area is wet I would advise using AWAB brand non-perforated 316 SS hose clamps.

Phil has them here at the SBO store.. The AWAB's are about the best non-perf clamps I've come across. There are many knock offs but none I have found to be as good as AWAB..
