halyards

I have owned a 1976 Hunter 27' for the past six years. I have been slowly upgrading as I go. I have looked into this,(halyards ran back) It is quite simple, some hardware from West Marine and we'll be set. Good Luck!

Running your halyards back is a great idea and you can do it to most any boat. A deck organizer and sheet stoppers should take care of the needed hardware. You will need to increase the length of your new halyards by about 15'. I highly recommend down sizing if you are using double braid and going with a covered spectra instead. The covered spectra is far stronger, much less stretch and will last far longer. You can easily use 3/8" on your 27.

Link to the mod on our '77 h27

OK, you finally shamed me into uploading these pictures of our modifications for leading two lines aft our our '77 Cherubini h27. Just click on the link below. This mod really eases raising and lowering the main, and allows single handing from the cockpit. We will run the clew outhaul aft next summer, because this is the one adjust ment we often don't make to flatten the main in rough weather. David Lady Lillie
