Has anyone changed a main water pump un a universal m25xp diesel, mine has siezed and broke fan belt, is this difficult, does the old one come right out and is a new one easy to install, any help would be appreciated. I am mechanically able just want to know if there is anything I should be careful about when taking off and putting new one in. Thanx

Hi,
I have a C30 with the M25 engine which is at least similar to your engine. I replaced the main water pump in my engine after the bearing failed. It was a straightforward job off and on. The only sticky part for me was that the hose that exits the pump and delivers water to the heat exchanger was ruined in disassembly. I was unable to purchase a new one with the 90 degree bend. I was able to cobble together a replacement using a pair of 90degree copper tubing fittings and straight hose. It has lasted more than ten years. Perhaps the hose is now available but I wouldn't count on it. Take steps to preserve the original hose if you can.
Good luck!

Good advice.

That hose is a 1" to 7/8" 90 degree hose. Instead of paying marine prices, go to an auto store and ask for one.

I used to have a link to it, I'll start looking for it.

Here's one: http://c34.org/bbs/index.php/topic,3510.15.html

If you take that picture to an auto store they should know. You'd want the guy who graduated high school in 1990, not the new guy :) who can only look up parts from a computer.

Thanks for the reply and the info, have to change it in the water but sounds like it should be a not to bad job, always appreciate the advice from someone who has a little knowledge of what to do. Again thanks
