I'm reworking my new 1983 27. Does anyone know the main sheet length? I would like to buy the line on the way to my boat this weekend. It would save me a trip back into town after measuring the one on the boat.thanks.

Twice the height of the mast, plus enough to tail back into the cockpit.

That's a great way to measure for the Halyard The sheet depends upon how it's rigged

MAIN SHEET LENGTH

SIX SHEAVE BLOCK BOOM CONTROLER, IN THE CENTERED AREA YOU HAVE 5 LEADS THAT MEASURE 3 FEET EA. DOWN WIND THESE EXTEND TO 6FEET EA, PLUS TAIL TO COCKPIT, I'D GET A 50 FOOT LENGTH OF 3/8" DIA. YACHT BRAID, I LEAVE MY TAIL PIECE ON THE ENGINE LEVER ON THE PEDESTAL, I ALSO SUGGEST TO ADD A 4 TO 1 BOOM VANG SO YOUR MAST DOESN'T RISE UP WHEN YOU RELEASE THE SHEET, AND CUTS DOWN ON WEATHER HELM.

Hunter 27 1982

My H-27 uses a traveler over the cabin area. I bought 45 feet and it worked out just fine. Used 3/8 braided line with whipped ends. Hope this helps.
