Main sheet on MH 37?

I need to replace the mainsheet on my Marlow Hunter 37. Any suggestions on diameter and type of line?

Rich,
There should be a spec page in your owner's manual with line types and sizes. I just ordered a new mainsheet for my H410 from SBO, and it's 1/2" Sampson XLS 80' length (I actually upped it to 85').

My HC 37 has 5/8 line for the main sheet. I suspect that was chosen more for being easy on the hands than for strength. I was given a self tailing winch which works, but not really well, with the line and for that reason I am going to renew with 1/2 line which will fit much better. I think I will imitate BobH57 for type and size.

I could not find a Hunter 37 manual with a list of lines. My recommendation is to attach a tag line and remove it and replace with same length assuming you are happy with that length. That way you can ensure you do not buy extra unuseable length. That is what I do when replacing my mainsheet. Hunter specifies 11 mm (7/16 inch) diameter Samson XLS (or equivalent) for the mainsheet for your boat size.
