Has anyone figured out how to make the birth in the main salon comfortable for a good nights sleep? The private cabins all have mattresses. Do you think that a foam mattress cover would help? Perhaps a blow up mattress would work. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Warren

why do my posts not work?

I am trying to get my post to work with no luck. Thus, this reply is a test.

Memory Foam

One thing that might help is to use some memory foam. We do not have mattresses on our boat so we put it on our aft berth. It has worked great. It just goes on top of the cushions. Ours came with a zippered cover to make it more comfortable. We bought it at Costco.

Egg Crate pad

We use an egg crate type mattress pad. It is foam, can be cut to size/shape with scissors and you can roll it up for storage when not in use. They are not expensive and we find that they provide a nice comfortable surface for sleeping. They are cheep enough for you to give it a try. They are available at most home/bedding furnishing stores.

Memory Foam

I have tried both the memory foam and the egg crate foam in my aft cabin. The egg crate foam went into the dumpster. The memory foam from Costco is the way to go.

Sorry, I coudn't resist!

My guess is that if you want to make the birth in the main salon more comfortable, you should consult an Obstetrician. (Or, you might start by upgrading the foam in the b-e-rth cusions. I had mine replaced with much denser foam, using the same cusions, and the results were fabulous. Didn't cost much, either.)

John, how do you keep from getting flamed?

I was going to say something similar but you beat me to it. And the fire would still be coming. *o

Um, Fred, I Think It's Saloon

...not Salon ;D (See latest L & A as reference...) (Certainly in my case, it's a saloon...) Rick D.

costco memory foam

Ditto on the memory foam! works great in the main cabin (I won't use the s word!) and as a topper in the cabins. Bj's sells a similar product, but without the cover.
