I have a catalina 25 that I've owned for 2 years now and the main sail doesn't seem to be right. This sail is I think about 15 years old and seems to be in good shape. I have only had one other boat which was a 19 Oday and its main was not like this.The aft end of the sail seems to be to loose. If I pull down on the aft end of the boom it will correct it. Its like the aft end of the sail has stretched, if that is possible. Thanks for any advise.

Is your outhaul tight? The clew of the main sails on C25s end well short of the end of the boom.

It could be the cut of the sail. I have 2 mains, the original factory main, and an Ullman that's only got this season on it. The ullman is cut quite a bit different than the factory main - seems to have more roach at the top and I've noticed that I have to use quite a bit more vang to pull the boom down or the bottom of the sail seems floppy/loose.
Not sure the Admiral appreciates the change but I've been really impressed with the improved performance - we get about 1/2 knot more speed and the boat accelerates as it heels, instead of heeling over then accelerating. It also doesn't heel as much as it does with the factory main.
