Not sure if it has a name or not, but when I slide the main sail slugs into the mast, is there suppose to be a pin that you push in the mast to keep all the slugs in the slot on the mast?

If it does have one then mine is obviously missing, what could I use to keep the slugs in.

On your mast which was Z spar, there was an attached long cotter pin that went into a hole on stbd. side that slid into the track which there was another hole. You also could purchase a small sail stop to insert into the track. One has a barrel shape and the other is a rectangular piece of metal (get the smaller one) Hope this answers your question

This is what my boat came with. Very easy to use. I thought of getting a spare, just in case, but no one seems to have ever seen or heard of this part. It seems like everyone ends up having to use pliers to tighten the unit in the above picture and then you need a tool to use it. That's not to say it doesn't work, it does.

The prev owner of my 23 just drilled a hole into the mast inside the slot, just above the gate - maybe 1/8 drill bit, or so. He tied a pin that has a "handle" on the end with a hole to the mast with a piece of wire, and this pin just sticks into the hole, blocking the gate. I think he pulled it off a shackle, as it has an (unnecessary) threaded end. Works fine for me.
