Sail folding
Sounds like you have it right. The folds should be parallel to the foot of the sail and the flakes should be as wide as necessary to have the sail slugsoccur within the folds of the luff in order to keep the luff fairly flat. Last I fold or loosly roll the flaked sail, tie it with bungee cords and put it away in a sail bag in my attic. I leave my oversize battens on the boat, but depending on their length and the width of your rolled sail they could be put into the middle of the sail to keep everything together. Genoas can be folded the same way, except that the first fold might triangular, wide at the luff tapering to nothing at the leach; the remaing folds parallel and the same width. Then roll, bungee and bag.Dont put them away dirty or wet as that leads to mildew growth.
