Main Halyard

I rigged the Main Halyard on my 20 ft oday by threading it through the block on the top of the mast but there seems to be some resistance. Looking at the block there are two pulley wheels is the first wheel for the main halyard or do I thread them through both.

Unless your boat has internal halyards (halyards are run inside the mast and exit just above or at the bottom) then you sheould run the main halyard over both sheaves at the masthead. The picture below is of a Day Sailer, but the concept is basically the same.

well thanks all seems... everything is looking good, other than the word should seems to come up alot, I'm one who likes the word will ; ) a guess when were talking about 30 plus year old boats should will have to do.
