I need to replace the main halyard on my 1985 H34. It appears to measure 1/2" in diameter. Is there a way to confirm that size somewhere in the literature? I'd hate to order 110' of line and find out it's the wrong size.

I use 7/16 but as Dave says you could use 3/8. 1/2 is definitely too big. Suggestion for you: get 115'. You'll have a little bit more to work with in the cockpit and when it starts showing some wear, you can switch it end to end and still have enough to re-splice your shackle after cutting a couple of feet.

Mikefin...

Have 113 feet of half inch Sta-Set X (on the mast one week) if you are interested...

High strength 3/8 would flow through the H34's halyard blocks more easily but may not be gripped by the line stoppers or halyard winch's self-tailer as well as 7/16's.

I used the SBO site and found them to have correct sizes/lengths and the price was in line with what I would pay in Houston. also when changing the halyards there are several posts in the forum on how to do this.
