Beneteau 343 with US Spars (Z 500 E) furling mast...never had trouble removing or replacing the in-mast furling m'sail but last time it was a devil to get back up. Ran it up (not past 2/3s mark) and the tension was so hard on the halyard was afraid to crank harder. At one point even ran a cleaner rag up the foil and back. Last time (#3 effort) lubed the mainsail luff bead that goes into the furling foil extrusion and that seemed to help but the last 2 feet were again very stubborn and am not sure I got it all way. My fear is that the halyard has jumped the sheave in the masthead but that does not explain why it is easy at first and gets progressively harder? Any help appreciated.

I doubt the halyard jumped the sheave. Lubing the foil track usually takes care of the problem. You said you lubed the sail's luff bead. Try lubing the track. There's a lube kit that will do the trick for you. It's basically a short piece of luff bead with a loop on each end for the halyard and downhaul. I would do it a couple of times since most of the lube is going to end up on the lower sections of the track. While you're at it make sure the track sections still line up. I had two sections on the headsail furler twist apart a bit. Made getting the head past it a pain but once there all went well. I assume the luff bead was in good shape so that should be eliminated. Can't think of anything else that might impact it. Good luck.
