Good afternoon!

I was reading a post about this subject (Main halyard pulley stuck on H36) and thinking - my sheave is stuck also but i have a different boat than this guy.

Anyone know what's at the top of a H27 Shoal draft mast ?
anyone have any photos ?
Specifically - what size is the main halyard sheave at the top of a H27?

If i step the mast to fix these i would expect to have all parts on-hand as it will prbably be a replacement job.

Thanks in advance!

You will probably get the straight skinny from a brother H27 owner. Meanwhile, if you know your Kenyon mast dimensions, then you can use this link:
http://www.rigrite.com/Spars/Kenyon_Spars/KENYON.html#Kenyon Mast Sections . Find your spar and then read the section entitled "Mastheads". For example the model 3756 has four 2 1/2 inch sheaves. Once you know which mast section you have then Kenyon can probably tell you exactly the parts you need.

If you are not using all the sheaves up there then you could rearrange them on the axles. Pick a couple of good ones for those halyards that are used regularly. If you have a roller furling jib there is one sheave that you only use twice a year.

probably the 3756 series

Ed's pointing you in the right direction. I think the mast on my 27 may be the 3756, all the parts look right on the rigrite site. The cross section is the same also. They also list the 27 as one of the boats that used the mast. Attached are a couple of pics of the mast head (unfortunately only the front - but the back is almost the same). Hope this helps.

Re: probably the 3756 series

Ed - great,

I think you are right that it is the 3756. Will walk down there and measure X & Y tonight.

Manny - always a pleasure to get a response from you, how'd you get that photo?

Will post exact mast details later, best,
a.

I had the mast down a couple of years ago

Andrew,

I took the pictures when I had the mast down to rebuild the core around the mast step a few years ago. I thought I had taken pictures of the back side of the top of the mast but I could not find them.

Good luck and let us know how you make out with the sheaves.

Manny, I noticed in your second picture your high tech repair of your hatch. I noticed a leak in my hatch last week and completed a similar marine speciality repair. What did you use to repair this permanently? I was thinking 5200 as this is something I don't want to come apart again, but I don't know if this is compatible with the plastics involved. Thanks.

Hey Merry Prankster,

I can't take credit for the specialty repair on the hatch, it was something a previous owner did. I did try and take the tape off to inspect an repair if necessary but it left an awful mess. So I retaped it with gorilla tape and it looks much better! The hatch does leak occasionally and I found out where - water comes through the bolt that holds the hatch arm. The hole is bigger than the bolt so water can get through during heavy rains or when washing the boat. I'm going to try seal it with some life-seal and see how it works. I also found that the front hatch does the same thing. I bet that is the leak the PO was chasing when he applied the tape.
