Main halyard mast base rigging

I am in the midst of setting up rigging for single hand on my '79 c30 (if I have to stand on top of that cabin with a ghost at the helm one more time, im gonna....) and was wondering if I could get some feedback on which to go with at the mast base for the main halyard. I have seen in catalogs the "fixed mastbase block" or the "stand up spring" block. Which is preferred? Also, is there a drawing/template somewhere that shows exactly where to mount mastbase block, organizer and line clutch on the C30? Any input, drawings, pictures, links or advice would be greatly appreciated! This board is the bast thing that has ever happened to a new owner!

It's all on the Association Website,

There is so much stuff here it will keep you busy all winter with broadband connection. In the FTP picture area in the general info folder is an owners manual which has a cabin top diagram I'll try to post here. The website is on the related link here.

Halyard turning blocks

Hello Derek: I am not familiar with your big boat but here is a picture of my C22 home made mast plate/hinge & the blocks for both external halyards. Should be similar to yours. The spring loaded stand up blocks would be of no advantage as the blocks always stand at 45 degrees. Even when not sailing, the halyards are usually snugged up, so they stand at the same position. Halyards then go to a set of cabin top flat mounted turning blocks & then to double line clutches on the cabin top next to the pop top. I guess cleats could be used instead of the line clutches. The base blocks just need to be far enough away from the mast so that the halyards are not rubbing hard on the mast. Bob B.

updated internal halyards

This pic roughly agrees with the association drawing. The Main Halyard (solid blue Sta Set NE ropes w/ white flecks and red tracer) exits the starboard mast base runs to the deck organizer (I replaced my dual with garauer quad) , and runs back to new garauer quad sheet stopper. This hardware isn't light but it is pretty. The starboard and port jib halyards are exactly symmetrical on the port side of the boat. Pictured is the starboard side only; the pic is taken from the bow looking aft.

By the time I edited the pic down to the right size the post had automatically been done. Sorry for the error but here it is. Better late than never.
