I am refurbing the interior of my Hunter27 (1979). I am replacing the old curtains with shades and want to paint over the old screw holes after I have filled them. Can anyone suggest a paint to use or should I use gelcoat? Steve

I'd use brightside by INTERLUX, pretty good stuff, alot of colors availible.Only problem is most paint is only sold by the QT.I have also gone down to my local guy that sells and mixes paint for auto body types, a great resource when color must be exact. My guy will match color exactly with some gizmo, put it in a spray can for about $12.00. Must bring a piece or boat down there so he can match. These guys are amazing.If you buy paint you can always get a unit called prevail comes as a disposible pressure cartridge and small bowl that screws on to cartridge.Works great for small touch ups. If your inside gelcoat is as nice as mine(1979) I would not paint it. Just fill the holes with a dab of epoxy paste and cover it with a dab of gelcoat. If you start painting you will have to do the entire surface to get a match. Maybe you can mask off an area? Does yours look like the picture(not mine)? Where would you stop?

Steven: I'd agree with Ed. I'd just use a little Marine Tex and then put up your new shades. You may find that you do not need to do any painting. I doubt that ANY paint is going to give you the shine/luster of the original gelcoat.
