maiden voyage

Took KIVALO, my 2004 H260, for its maiden voyage on sunday. What a blast, had some really great wind!!! The boat is far better than my Mac25 in every respect. But I do have some questions for the group. First has anyone figured out how to make it easier to lower the rudder into the water without any major changes? and second with a CDI roller for the Jib how do you trailor without having the roller bending over the bow? Other than that I love the boat!Brad

Glad to here you like the new sailboat! As far as the rudder goes you can check the archives for alot about lowering the 260 rudder. As far as bending the roller over the bow the way I took care of it was to use about 5' of 4" PVC cut in half lengthwise and lay it beside the mast and lash it with bungee straps.Good luck,PatJibSea

I use the gin pole

I bungie the gin pole along the side of the mast , just under the fruler. It is long enough to be supportive to the end of the furler and half way on the mast. The pvc idea is a good one too. I think I might give that a try. He has a picture of it on the archive.

Pat's idea was a good one.

We use the PVC pipe cut in half (we have a spare). It works great with bungee cords wrapped around the "half pipe", furler and mast. We have trailered it on approximately 60 mile trips on several occasions, since we saw the original post. Thanks goes to Pat for a good remedy to a problem we recognized on our first trip.
