Is there a different place to ask diesel questions, that's not in the ask all sailors forum? I asked a question about an injector and it has went awol.
One time I asked a question about guns, I thought that was benign enough, it was emotional to say the least so it got moved to another area.
I didn't understand why it would be moved until I started seeing how the thread unfolded. NOW I understand why it got moved. I asked a diesel question this time. I am sure it got moved to the appropriate place...but where is that?

I bought my boat 6 weeks ago and started talking on this site. The boat hadn't been moved in 5 years. I rebuilt the engine and scraped the bottom and cleaned it up a bit. Yesterday I got the engine running, turns out I needed to bleed the injector, and it started on the first crank. I ran it for 2.5 hours and did a couple of oil changes to get assembly grease and any other junk out of it. And then I got to take it for a spin around the channels down in Corpus Christi. That was my first time being on the water on a sail boat, though I didn't sail it yet just motored. I think I was smiling the whole time. It was a great feeling to take out my own boat and cruise around.

Congratulations

Good on you Hermit. I have been reading your posts, and you have accomplished a lot in a short time. From your origional post, would have expected it to have taken you much longer to get to this point. It will be much better when you can get the sails up and shut the engine down.

Congrats

What a feeling! :) I must say your tenacious "get it done" attitude is great .
Wait it gets better when the sails are up and you turn the motor off

Tony

The first time I ever posted anything here, I was looking at an old boat and I posted a picture and asked if anyone knew what it was. Tony responded to it and offered to help me out by giving advice on what I should look for in a boat. I talked to Tony alot while I was looking for one. One time we talked for an hour and a half while I was driving down to work on my boat. He owned a Catalina 30 so he knows all about it. Tony helped me more than anyone by catching me up to speed on the basics. He's a good guy. I plan on sailing up to Kemah to the Moody gardens and I will stop in and meet him in person. Even though I am a gun toating crazy Christian, we seem to hit it off pretty good. :)

He sounds just like George Carlin, when I hear him talk I imagine that's what he looks like too.

Thanks Hermit

Thanks for the report on Tony B ....I am glad to here he is going to make the Harvest Moon race, I have crewed on a Corsair F31 the last three Harvest moon regatta's and was looking forward to this years race. We decided not to compete this year  because of all the junk floating around in the gulf.
I have been keeping up with your other post and it sounds like you are well prepaired for the trip. I am sure you will have a good time as this will be your first long trip on your new boat Disco Del Sol.
Let us know how the trip was.

P.S Try not to smile to much because the next day after your trip, your cheeks will feel a little funny:dance:
