Hi - I have a problem with my ME-RC remote not communicating with my Magnum MS2812 inverter charger and need some suggestions on diagnostics. The error is "No Inverter Comm". I've tried a replacement cable, a soft reset, a hard reset. to no avail. Was thinking to buy a new controller and see f that is the problem as a next step, but a pretty expensive way to mark this off the checklist (especially with the 20% rip-off restocking fees). The Marina repair tech can't get to it for a while- and he will probably call in an expert later, but have to work the process Suggestions ? (AGM batteries only a few years old). Thanks

I also have a MS2812 and the ME-RC remote.
Since you reset everything and replaced the cable, replacing the ME-RC is the next logical step.
There are some 'smarts' in the MS2812 itself obviously, but that is much more expensive.

If you get a new ME-RC to test out, you may want to confirm the firmware/software version it has.
I recently replaced my working ME-RC with one that had software version 2.9 when I did a LifePO4 house bank install.
The newer ones support more charging profiles (CCCV, LifePO4, etc.) where the older ones do not.

This also requires that the MS2812 itself has the right software - aka 'level'.
I think you should be able to find that on a label on the MS2812 itself, not sure.
If the MS2812 is pretty old, like 'level 1', then the ME-RC software version may not matter that much anyway.
See table 3-1 in the attached.

EDIT: Also that attachment talks about your error:
No Inverter Comm – The remote is not receiving any communication data via the Magnum Network.

Remedy: Disconnect the remote communications cable from the inverter for five seconds, and then reconnect to reset the remote (see Figure 2-2). If the fault continues, examine the remote cable for damage, and replace if needed (4-wire telephone cable).

What if the cable is not the issue?
• Try another remote display
• Move the remote cable from the Remote port to the Network port
• The inverter may need servicing

EDIT2: Attaching the MS2812 manual I have as well in case it helps. Nothing about that error I could find though.
