I lost my rail mount overboard. I dont like the grill enough to buy a new mount at $53. its robbery. ive been using a little $19 ceramic coated hibachi type that cooks better. but, it is getting in the way. I would like to mount it. anybody got an idea on how to make a cheap rail mount? i have been keeping my eyes open for a few weeks for junk or scrap or hardware store parts, and i havent seen anything.

Tough one. I bought one used of ebay and it was essentially broken. There is a tubular pin that needs to be tight for he thing to work and it isn't anymore. Regarding a cheap mount, you could mount some u-bolts through the bottom of the grill, but be sure that the bottom of the grill is stiff enough that it doesn't flex, or you will need some plates on the inside to stiffen it.
Radio Shack part #21-937 is a luggage rack mount for a CB antenna. Check it out at your local radio shack. With the round part on top removed (where the antenna screws on) it becomes a economical rail mount. I'm using one, maybe two to mount my solar oven on a 1 inch rail. It's made of anodized aluminum.
Helm Products makes, or made, rail clamps. My link to their website came up dead. Goggle takes you to West Marine, but some further work might find someone less pricey. Also, here's an interesting source, although maybe overkill http://staffordmfg.com/NewProdApp.aspx

I bought a magma kettle 14". I have yet to use it. I bought some of those small canisters of propane. Does anyone use those or have you bought the parts to convert it to use larger containers? I have those canisters in my ice box that I don't use, because I am worried about them leaking out. I guess it wouldn't matter if it filled the whole ice box. If anyone is using them, how are you storing them?
I have some AFI tubing clamps here on clearance, you would have to come up with your own stainless rod, but it should work. Here's what they look like, I could offer just one of them for $10

I made a storage tube of PVC pipe, rivetted a drain fitting on the bottom, put a cap on the top. Drilled a hole in the cap and one through the pipe a couple of inches down so I could tether the cap to the pipe. The whole thing is attached to the pushpit rail with hoseclamps. You should be able to see it in the attached photo.

Be careful when searching on the web for Magma parts. I found a site that led me to believe it was their web site, but it was some not very honest distributor, who would not answer repeated emails. I did get my part, but not before I closed my credit card account to protect myself.
Brobins, I have two (red) pieces. (Update to add they are for 1 1/8 rail. They'd need a spacer or shims). The rod and the rail clamp, but not the part that secures the rod to the grill (blue). Instead of the locking levers they have wing nuts. If you can live with that, send me an email and we'll work it out. Ten bucks, with postage. repenceatmsndotcom.
I found one like in post #5, for a fishing rod holder. It's like "E" on page 544 of West. No grill mount piece on this one, either. I had if for my smaller boat, but doesn't look like it's ever been used. $30.

Here is a custom mount that I made for under $20
I really dislike the Magma clamp-on mount that they sell for silly bucks.
So I made my own.
I have a flag staff holder on my stern rail as shown below.
I went to a stainless steel fabricator and bought a six-inch piece of 1" stainless tube that would slide inside of the flag holder. I also bought a nine-inch piece of solid stainless rod that is 1/2" in diameter.
These two pieces of stainless were both sourced out of the fabricator's scrap bucket.
I then went to my boat and determined the optimum angle for the rod and the tube. I drilled the tube at home and after fitting the rod to the tube and verifying that it would work, I went back to the fabricator and had him weld the tube and the rod at his leisure to minimize cost.
Total cost was about $20 for the material and the weld.
Now with the custom mount attached to the grill (I used the part "B" that you have apparently lost), I simply drop the tube into the flag staff holder and put a 1/4" diameter pin or bolt (I drilled for this pin) into the side of the holder and through the inner tube. This holds the grill from turning.
Fast and easy. Cheap enough.
The picture below shows the bracket without the grill attached.
