Magma grill

Hunter 25 Plymouth
Dear Sailors,

I need suggestions for a minor problem: I’ve moved from a Hunter 25 to an Irwin 28. Oddly, the Hunter 25 has a push pit railing with thicker stainless steel tubing that worked well when attaching my Magma grill. The Irwin, though a bigger boat, has a slightly smaller diameter of tubing so the grill droops after tightening the clamp. I’ve tried rigging tape but it’s too soft and moves allowing the grill to droop again. Any suggestions on a tape or product that won’t do this?

Thanks,
Mark

I’d try a piece of 1/8” or 1/16” rubber as a shim in the clamp. The rubber is available at any hardware store or raid the inner tube from a kids bike tire. When asked “I told you jumping over all those curbs and the aerobatic maneuvers was going to pop a tire.”

You may be able to use a strip or wrap the strip around the pulpit pipe. If concerns about falling off, a dab of contact cement will solve the issue.

Many possible solutions. I use a piece of rubber hose (same size as water pump hose), split lengthwise and fitted onto the stanchion.
