None. Did 'em all over the years. Internet is so much more interactive. I can't recall the number of times I've read, for example: "To bleed your diesel engine, crack the injectors." Hogwash - at least for my engine (M25). But yelling at a magazine that's being produced for general, rather than specific engines, doesn't really help now, does it?

I take "Sail," "Sailing" and "Good Old Boat." Should be receiving my first copy of "Practical Sailor" soon. Sail is starting to wear thin, but there is always something of interest. It's the least-expensive one so I doubt I'll cancel next year. I get it for $10 per year. My daughter and daughter-in-law ordered Practical Sailor and Good Old Boat for me for Christmas. I'm looking forward to seeing how I like them. Next on my list to try is Trailer Sailor.
None, Zero since most have little appeal based upon my needs. A few years back I counted the number of pages in Sail magazine that were ads versus content. The magazine was essentially a pamphlet. Once I discounted the boat reviews of the 40-50 boats there was nothing left to read that was of use. I used to buy Sailing Today (British) which made the U.S. rags seem like they were written at the 3rd grade level. Their boat reviews were thorough with great detail, many of which were of used boats. The gear reviews equaled those of Practical Sailor with no holds barred criticisms and praises. Unfortunately, it became too expensive. You can gain more through the various forums on the net.
I used to subscribe to most but found they were all little more than glossy venues for advertisers. I don't recall ever learning anything from any of them (and I don't know much) and most of the sailing material were excerpts from books I had already read or planned to.
Save your money and buy some of the better how-to books.
I forgot Wooden Boat. I don't subscribe but will pick it up when in WM.

Sail and Cruising World. I like the "Voice of Experience" Articles in Sail magazine and there is some other general information items I read but it is really lots of advertising. No excuse for Cruising World other than I like to read about the locations. It is worse than Sail Magazine regarding advertising. I used to subscribe to Lats and Atts but as mentioned it died a few months ago and I had a 2 year subscription. Have not seen the replacement Cruising Outpost and will not subscribe until I do.
Practical Sailor. Period. I agree with Stu 100%. Most are garbage, and I think they "trick" the delusional into thinking retiring live-aboards spend every day standing on the afterdeck sipping Margaritas, and listening to Jimmy Buffet music.
But I'm under the assumption that P.S. is a no-holds-barred consumer reports for sailors. I defer to it before most "major" purchases, if nothing else, for real world opinions from experienced people who have actually used the products.

I haven't subscribed to any because my boathouse did some reorganizing and gave me six boxes full. They're all older issues of Sail, Lats and Atts, Live aboard and such. They may be old but the reading is good for me .
None. And I have Volume 1, Number 1 - 5 of Wooden Boat I still miss Small Boat Journal. Which was murdered. And showing my age, I STILL miss Rudder.
Used to read Cruising World, before I cruised. When I came back it wasn't worth spit. I have no need for a 50 foot gold plater with ALL the gewgaws. Nor stories about them.

Free Mags and Pay Ones
We get Cruising World, Yachting, and Boat U.S. They are all ok and we get them for free. Cruising World and Yachting we get free with admission to the local boat shows (Newport and New England Boat Shows). We get Boat U.S. because of our membership for tow service. I don't think I would pay for any of these.
At my marina and some other local places you can pick up Points East. For the New England area, this is a good local cruising magazine. It's free and usually has a couple of good articles in it each month.
We pay for Cruising Outpost, actually a member of the founders circle. This is the new effort from Bob and Judy Bitchin after they got screwed by the people who stole Lats and Atts from them. The put out their first issue recently and it is good. Less adds and more content then Cruising World with the typical fun that Lats and Atts had. They offer an online subscription for $25 a year. IMO, well worth it.
I used to get Practical Sailor but found that the forums are far better than Practical Sailor. Nothing they ever put out was as good as a MaineSail tutorial.
