Does anybody know what the core material on the Mac 26 x and M transoms are.
Shapes look too complex to just be ply.
Thanks

From what I've read in this month's Good Old Boat, the deck is cored in plywood and the rest of the boat is solid is uncored fiberglass.

I'm pretty sure plywood is cheapest. So plywood is my guess. It is what is used on my 26D. I can't see them changing from a proven material for the X or M.

thanks guys,
just seems that with the complex and convoluted shape of the x and m transoms, it's really not going to work with a flat piece of plywood.
in the older boats with flat transoms- i can see it working- my ol' aquasport has a plywood core!!
they have to be using something else- and have seen many newer materials used in other boats- was just wondering what they were using in these boats.
Plywood eventually becomes a problem with any below the water line attachments- it eventually rots out around the screw holes.

Do you have any particular concerns or upcoming projects that we should know about? :D

Maybe a big engine retrofit?

nope nothing yet, just being pre-emptive.
just want to see what i am working with for transducer mounts etc. on my other boat i built a bracket that was screwed to the transom above the waterline( with all appropriate sealants!!), with a leg that extended to the transom bottom for the transducer etc.

just trying to be ahead of the game- to see whether i need to open all mounts periodically, and check the status, and apply fresh sealant!!??
