I have just ordered a new 26M. No printed data is available yet. Macgregor plans initial shipments in October or November this year. A dager board will replace the swing keel. More windows, cupholders, still rated for 50 HP. and the are thinking of adding thee option of a blue boot stripe & possibly blue biminy. Thats all I have. Good sailiing, Flip

New design--26M
I've been looking to buy and called the factory about a month ago--- they were pretty closed lip and indicated that they were still working on modifications and indicated late or early next year before 2003 would be available. Spoke to a local dealer after seeing your note and they indicated they haven't seen anything on new model. Did your dealer have actual data on new model and if you could share their phone number? Did your dealer have any insight on why they would be moving back to a dagger board rather than the swing center board. Thanks for the heads up. Dennis

I have called the factory a couple of times to get more information on the new model. I guess they are going back to the dagerboard to improve sailing preformance. The prototype only has a hull & deck supposidly so cabin layout has not been determined. The head and galley will probably be moved forward. This is like the 26C from 1990 (I think) I have a photocopy to scan in and I can post it. The prototype has a bit more of a sailing or V hull then the existing planing hull. This will reduce pounding when going fast under power or beating into the wind. The only additional information I found out is that the hull will be shorter and the deck taller giving the same overall height. They plan to put in two rows of windows so that shorter people can see out of them. The sail plan is undetermined. I think they are keeping this quiet to WOW the market when it is introduced. I was planning to buy a 26x in the spring, from all the hipe on the 26m, I now plan wait to place order. Possibly at the boat show in Jan. Is their a price advantage in placing orders now? How much is the base price? Flip are u dealing with Dowsar Yacht Sales? thx, dreamer

Overgrown Mac 19
Looks just like the 19. Glad to see they got rid of the noisy compound chines. I've got mixed feelings about going back to a dagger board like the 26D. It should be better for steering at slow speed under power and be less turbulent under sail but if the lift cable breaks, there's no way it's going back on the trailer. Link is to MacGregor 19.

Hello Dennis, I'm dealing with boats4sail out of wisconsin. Their number is on the MAC website. No one has (dealer or self) true insight as to why macgreggor is moving back to the dagerboard design. Just a assuption that it will improve sailing performance.
