removehtml]Help, anyone,I recently purchased and moved aboard my 1983 25 MacGregor. I need to apply for an anchoring permit and the boat's HIN number is necessary but I haven't a clue where to find it, nor does the person I bought her from. As long as I'm asking, I also am having a terrible problem with a constant loud banging noise along with a rattling noise that sounds like a chain being drugged along the underside. I assume this is a problem with the keel. She is anchoreed in shallow water (3feet) with keel raised. I can't get underneath her as she is in Red Hook Harbor on St Thomas and the marina is filthy and our weather has been to rough to dive it safely, of course I don't have a trailer yet, Thanks to anyone that can help me Sean divesean@hotmail.com Error: Error: expected [/URL], but found [/removehtml] instead[/removehtml]

HIN

On my v 22 the ID # is a series of drilled holes making up the numbers on the outboard side of the starboard hull stringer underneath the cockpit.

The numbers are embossed on the outside of the transom starboard side.

If you rub lightly with a pencil they are easier to read. The noise is probably your keel banging from side to side. They are made to tighten up in the trunk when the keel is lowered. Frank

Sean, There is usually a brass plate riveted on a floor stringer aft on the port side in addition to the one on the starboard quarter. Dennis W. S/V FullSailed
