Is the 1983 MacGregor 22 OK to sail on the Great Lakes? Thank you!

Sure, if you hold on tight

just kidding. I'm sure you'll get responses that if the weather is ok then go for it. I've heard that Ontario can get nasty. I want to cross Ontario with my Mac 25 next summer. But I need to do some upgrading first and get more sailing experience. Mac

it all depends! *grr ......

....don't you just hate it when people say that? ;D sailing out of sarnia, ont. in an 18ft y-flyer, with about 6" of freeboard, out of sight of the blue water bridge and both u.s. and can. shores. no problem right? nice day, sunny, 90+ degs., did it for years. now try this with one of those l. huron storms that come out of nowhere and you trying to reach safe harbour before it hits, 20+ knot winds gusting to who knows what and hail comming down on an open deck. no worries mate. you're in a 22ft'er, w/cabin...easy as pie. go for it, you'll have fun. just have a marine weather forcast radio handy if you plan on heading out far or for long. iain. forgot to mention, the boat was hand made in my friends garage by his father(may he rest in peace) in approx. 1965.

Sure

I learned to sail on lasers and 420s in Evanston, IL. It would be plenty for this part of lake michigan. I have heard Lake Erie is more hostile.

Make sure no one took the foam blocks out, just to be on the safe side.
