Recently purchased a mac2000 26X and have a few questions. First, is there a cap (for the top of the mast) that can be purchased. We would like to install an antenna and an anchor light at the top of the mast. Also a good retailer that would carry macgregor products at a reasonable price would be good.

For a mast cap, you can make one from a plastic cutting board. Buy one about 3/8" thick. Trace around the end of your mast and saw out. Trace a second one, then run a line inside the race by the thickness of the mast wall, and cut this out so it will fit inside the mast. Fasten the two together with SS screws or Al pop rivets. On each side of the mast, drill a 3/16" hole 3/16" down from the top edge. A screw in each hole will hold the cap in place. Youy can mount an anchor light or whatever you want to the cap. You can use other material besides the cutting board (plastic decking material, or even wood) if you like, using the same principles. -Paul
