My husband loves to sail but he thought that as a compromise to the teenages that he would purchase a boat that he could use for sailing and water skiing. My concern is that the Macgregor 19 might not be a good sailboat or a good ski boat. If anyone has any information about how this boat performs, I would greatly appreciate it. I want my husband to have a boat he can really enjoy. Thanks.

Questionable

I sail a Mac 26 but I have been around a lot of 19's. The maximum engine size that can be put on a 19 is 40 HP. One might really be able to waterski if you left home the mast and took almost everything else off the boat. A 26 with a 50 Hp engine totally stripped (including the mast) is a more reasonable ski boat. We have a 40 Hp on our 26 and with the boat fully loaded we really only get about 10 knots cruising. Tht isn't enough for watersking.
