In Peggy Hall's book she mentions how short-lived macerator pump impellers are. Just curious -- How many C320 owners actually use theirs? How many have actually experienced macerator pump failures? How long have they lasted without maintenance? --RonD

mine works fine

Had a macerator pump on my 320 for over 5 years now and it still works fine. We don't have many pump out stations up here so I use my pump every time I go out for a week end or more and haven't had any trouble so far.

Starting third season

I've used mine intermittantly for the first two seasons when I've cruised offshore. Also, run it while on the hard stand to pump antifreeze through the system. Seems to do the job, although I have no idea whether the impeller is developing cracks as Peggie predicts. --RonD

Macerator pump

Ron: Since we have not even taken possession of our 320 yet, I have nothing to tell you about the pump. I would, however, be interested in getting your e-mail address because you and I have the same type boat and are just around the corner from each other. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions in a few weeks. jack

Has the ice retreated out of Beverly harbor yet? :) If it ever stops raining & warms up a little, I'd like to get out to my boat! Memorial Day Weekend was a total bust -- 2" of rain yesterday alone. I look forward to seeing you out in Salem Sound this season. What hull # is your new boat? Did you purchase at Wells Yachts in Marblehead? If so, they might have showed you my boat. You can contact me directly at: rdoesche@rcn.com Also, check in with the Catalina 320 International Association at: http://www.catalina320.org/index.php And the All-Catalina Association of New England (CANE) at: http://www.allcatalinane.org Regards --RonD
