Has anyone replaced the 2 Macerator Pumps (Model # 18590 - 2592, 12 - volts) on a 2005 - 2010 Hunter 45 CC?
These pumps have a 1 1/2 " line running from the holding tank, with a PVC valve between the line and the pump inlet, and a 1" discharge line running from the pump to the discharge thru hull. Access to both the aft and forward holding tanks are VERY TIGHT. Thanks for any responses.

I have just replaced the 2nd Macerator on our 2001 420 Passage with the same pumps you listed (Replaced the forward one 2 years ago).
Forward one was easy, Aft one, I took the opportunity to replace the pipe (inlet and outlet). I had to attach the pipe to the Macerator and then feed the pipe back to the holding tank and the thru hull. This made the job a lot easier. I did this after I pulled the boat out of the water for the season.

I have replaced both forward and aft macerator pumps. I left the housing with the hose attached in place and just removed the 4 bolts holding the motor in place and replaced that unit

The Raritan macerator pumps are the exact same footprint and electrical load as Jabsco but are a little more robustly built. Also they offer a smart switch which automatically kills power to the pump when the tank is empty so you don't wear out an impeller running it dry.

I think I may have to do this job too.

I only got my boat (Legend 290) a few weeks ago. I didn't know if the toilet valve was pointed at the holding tank or out to sea. Turns out it was going into the holding tank, which is now half full (liquids only). I take it, the way these are meant to work is you open the seacock and turn on the macerator, which pumps and chops, emptying the tank?

I tried turning the macerator on and get nothing.

Do you get a voltage drop and current increase when you turn on the macerator? I just replaced mine with those symptoms. The motor was firmly seized from corrosion. I picked up the $80 Amarine on Amazon because of the poor reviews on the $140 Jabsco that I am replacing. Time will tell how that works out.

Fwiw, Johnson Pump macerator pumps are higher quality version of the Jabsco macerator pump for very little more $$. Raritan macerator pumps are MUCH higher quality for a considerably higher price. The Dometic/SeaLand T-Series pump is a diaphragm pump for about twice the price of the Jabsco macerator and is the best choice among all of them. The one on one of my boats was a 11 years old and still going strong without any maintenance except occasion replacement of the 2 duckbill valves....my experience with it is far from unique. SeaLand T-Series Pump at Defender (showing it on the Defender site because it's impossible to find anything on the Dometic site any more and Defender also has a good description of it. I'm pretty sure you can buy it from the sbo.com store...Get a quote from Dave )
