macerator pump replacement

if anyone has experience with this please share your insights.
the shaft looks like it's threaded; does it screw in?
any reccomendation on brand: johnson, jabsco?

I'm not sure why you would think it's threaded, unless you're looking at the back end of it where there is a slot for a screwdriver. That is for manually breaking up a jam. You know, like after those burrito dinners.
Most of them are very uncomplicated apparatuses, that resemble a water puppy pump inside. It's just a rubber impeller, with a small stainless "blade" forward of that to chew up the uh, well, tacos etc..

It is an easy job. I just did mine a couple of years ago. It took like 30 minutes or so.

Make sure that your holding tank is empty first and you may want to wash it out as much as possible. Keep plenty of latex gloves around and a disposable rag to stuff in the hose to the holding tank until you can re-connect the new macerator.
